Biosketch: Jenny Lindberg

I am a lecturer and doctoral candidate at the Swedish School of Library and Information Science at Högskolan i Borås. Since completion of my Master's degree in Library and Information Science (LIS) in 2002 I have been teaching courses on information literacy and the sociology of knowledge, among others. Since 2004 I am engaged in a dissertation project on academic librarians' information seeking practices (including the use of ICT tools), viewed as part of their shaping of occupational identities, in the transition between higher education and work life.

In the 1990's I worked as a curator and art pedagogue.

Current research activities/projects

I started my current research activities in the previous research project BIKT (Library, ICT and Learning) within LearnIT, and today I am associated to the research program LinCS. The preliminary title of my dissertation is Att bli bibliotekarie: informationssökning och identitet i utbildnings- och yrkespraktik (Learning librarianship: information seeking and identity in educational and occupational practice), and the project should be completed in 2011. Two empirical studies are being conducted: focus group interviews with library and information science students and in-depth interviews with practicing academic librarians. My supervisors are Professor Olof Sundin and Professor Louise Limberg.
