Olof is professor at the Swedish School of Library and Information Science, University of Borås (SSLIS), as well as a senior lecturer at the Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences, Lund University. His research has focused on information practices in occupational and educational contexts. In his current research he mainly focuses on information literacy, the credibility of digital information, and knowledge building in (new) participatory media. During autumn of 2009, Olof was a visiting scholar at Vienna University. He is a member of The International Information Literacies Research Network and of the permanent committee for Information Seeking in Context (ISIC). Olof is also a member of the editorial advisory board of Journal of Documentation.
Olof is the principal investigator of the project "Expertise, Authority and Control on the Internet (EXACT): A study of the formation of source credibility in Web 2.0 environments for learning" funded by the Swedish Research Council. EXACT is a study of how the credibility of sources is negotiated in Swedish high school environments, with a particular focus on collaborative web technologies and genres.
